We are delighted to present for sale this newly rebuilt Series 2a, in rare Mid-Grey colour scheme. This vehicle has just had a complete strip down and rebuild onto a new galvanised chassis via our in-house team. As the photos show, these vehicles are rebuilt to look like new – the process involves many many hours of stripping down, refurbishing and rebuilding which also includes the fitment of many new parts.
Externally, we have elected to keep the vehicle looking as original and standard as possible – there is a new galvanised front bumper, newly galvanised cappings, wing-mounted mirrors, new canvas and new sticks, refurbished deep dish rims with new tyres, new vintage numberplates, new doors and door tops – to name but a few items! The bodywork is straight and a fresh professional paint finish completes the look. The vehicle is currently presented with the spare tyre mounted in the rear, but for those who prefer the ‘bonnet mounted’ setup, all the furniture is present on the bonnet, and this could be switched without cost at the customers request.
The interior houses brand new matching grey seats (in the style of the Elephant Hide seats of the past). As can be seen, they are still wrapped in their new plastic, ready for the new owner. There is a brand new Clayton heater fitted to keep you warm all year around and even the individual wipers have been reconditioned and refurbished, inside and out. The lovely period steering wheel survives, and again, has received attention. The rear houses a pair of twin bench seats, again wrapped in plastic as new, in a matching style to the front seats, giving room for all the family. The rear spare is housed in the back, behind the front bulkhead.
Under the bonnet, as can be seen from the photographs, the same care and attention to detail is given. The wiring loom is a brand new AutoSparks item, as are many of the ancillaries, including an uprated Weber Carburettor. The engine has received attention internally, including a new head gasket, new seals etc etc. It is then painted and detailed before being refitted. This results in a pleasing exhaust tone and a vehicle which is easy to start and smooth running. The brakes are all fully replaced and new on a vehicle of this standard. This includes the master cylinder, brake lines, brake drums and shoes.
The underneath of the vehicle, as the photos show, is also detailed – the axle casings are refinished and new swivels and seals are fitted. New leaf springs and shock absorbers are added, and this gives a clean and fresh appearance to all areas. The bushes are poly-bushed, and a new exhaust is fitted too.
As one would imagine, this vehicle is as good to drive as the very best out there due to it being freshly rebuilt and sporting many new parts.
It is not very often, due to bespoke customer rebuilds, that we have the opportunity to present one of our rebuilds to the open market. As such, we do not envisage that it will sit around for too long. We think that these vehicles represent very good value for money in light of their hand-built nature and labour time involved. A vehicle such as this is ready to use and enjoy immediately and should last a very long time so that it can be both enjoyed, driven and ultimately handed down the family.
