1968 JAGUAR E-TYPE SERIES 1. 5 2 PLUS 2
Reluctantly up for sale is a stunning e type that was intended to by winter project but unfortunately a waiting list of orders for customer vehicles are forcing me to sell this beautiful e type.
originally supplied to Jaguar Cars New York in May 1968, it has spent all of its life in the USA, latterly in a dry indiana state until it returned to the UK in 2003, since then it has been dry stored in a London museum and has only become available recently due to the museums owner retiring and returning to the USA to live.
It is a wonderful basis for a light restoration as it is a complete running, driving car that has absolutely zero rust on the body or floor pans, very very unusual for one of these, even the factory welds are still intact on the rear valance. The front frames and all suspension components are also in excellent rust free condition.
As I am sure most of you reading this advert are aware these cars tended to have either a fixed roof or many had a period popular webasto sliding vinyl roof (which look very ungainly in my opinion) What makes this car different is that it has a factory sliding steel sunroof option.
All the interior trim and carpets, headining are in fantastic condition and do not require anything at all.
Whilst in the USA this car was converted to have a shelby cobra 302ci 5. 0 v8 engine and gearbox. Whilst this sounds incredible and a great performing engine my intention was to revert it to the correct 4. 2 litre straight six. The shelby engine is very valuable in its own right and its sale would more than likely cover the cost of a period correct straight six.
