1976 Austin Allegro 1300. Antique gold with brown interior. MOT & tax exempt, but I put it through a test to make sure I hadn't missed anything so it has a MOT until end of May 2021.
Bought by friends of mine in 2008 and used until 2010, it then languished in their shed until I took it on last year, since when it has undergone significant bodywork and recommissioning.
The bodywork is now extremely solid and presentable, but please don’t expect concours! The front panel and wings have been rebuilt, the offside ‘chassis leg' has had significant repair and the rear of the nearside sill rebuilt. The rear of the offside sill has had a cruder repair at some point earlier in its life but is still completely solid.
The engine runs well (a compression test showed 180+ PSI on all cylinders), and there are no problems with the gearbox or clutch. An almost new fuel tank has been fitted and the brakes overhauled with new rear cylinders, new hoses all round and new seals in the master cylinder. The clutch master and slave cylinders have also had new seals fitted. The oil and filter have been changed, along with a new air filter, spark plugs, water pump, thermostat, lower radiator hose and fresh coolant. All electrics work as intended.
The original vinyl front seats were badly torn and have been replaced with cloth items in good condition. The original rear seats are excellent, but I do have cloth rear seats to match the fronts if wanted. The carpets and dashboard are average, and there are some splits in the headlining.
Tyres are all legal but would benefit from being replaced before too long.
