Description
John McAvoy of Performance Bikes rode my bike for the 20th Anniversary Edition of the Yamaha R1 that appeared in the November 2017 of the magazine.
"The R1-SP is without doubt the rarest R1 ever made"
The bike is stock except for minor upgrades - R&G Crash Protection all round, the adjustable gold levers and the final drive cush-rubbers.
Averaging just over 600 ridden miles a year, the machine has spent most its time on the open roads of Oman and Dubai until I brought it back to the UK with my other R1's.
CMC Motorcycles of Cannock/ Clay Cross then added the DATATAG protection to the chassis (Smart water/ Micro-Dots) as well as Datatool Red S4 alarm/ Immobiliser and replaced the Ohlins front fork seals.
A rare opportunity to acquire not only a classic R1-SP but a machine that is a pure joy to ride.
Odometer reading update: 8, 797 miles
