The GTI version has given the brand back its technical dignity in the booming GTI market. The ingredients for success can be summed up in three words: Lightness, handling and performance.
A true icon, the 205 GTI is the queen of the Youngtimers.
It all started in March 1984 on the Geneva side with the presentation of the 205 GTI 1. 6 L which challenged the Golf, revealing the legendary GTI logo in the 80's.
First, there is the stylistic work to bring sportiness to this city car line. Peugeot also had the good idea to do some work in the cockpit with semi-bucket seats, bright red carpet, a 3-spoke steering wheel among others.
On the engine side, the 1. 6 L XU5 unit develops 105 hp and allows access to interesting performance.
It is above all in terms of handling that Peugeot has set new foundations. No manufacturer has achieved this level of handling efficiency with traction.
The biggest difficulty with this 205 GTI is to find a healthy copy, not too much mileage. Given its success, 294, 514 units were produced in a 10-year career and the vast majority have had a turbulent existence.
The car
This is not the case with the model we are offering for sale, which dates from 1986. It displays 97, 900 km and is in good condition. It has been maintained with care.
The specialist indicates that the rear brake needs to be replaced.
This is a black model, appropriately equipped with the original rims and the characteristic interior.
The road test confirms that the engine is healthy, that the road behavior is very good, as well as the changing of gears.

On ne présente plus cette icone française, véritable sauveuse de la marque Peugeot.
La déclinaison GTI a redonné à la marque sa dignité technique au sein du marché en plein boom des GTI. Les ingrédients du succès tiennent en trois mots : Légèreté, maniabilité et performance.

Tout commence en mars 1984 du coté de Genève avec la présentation de la 205 GTI 1. 6 L qui vient défier la Golf, révélatrice du mythique logo GTI dans les 80’s.
Il y a d’abord le travail stylistique pour apporter de la sportivité à cette ligne de citadine. Peugeot a également eu la bonne idée d’effectuer un travail dans l’habitacle avec des sièges semi-baquets, une moquette rouge vive, un volant 3 branches entres autres.
Coté moteur, le bloc XU5 de 1. 6 L développe 105 ch et permet d’accéder à des performances intéressantes.
C’est surtout au niveau de la tenue de route que Peugeot a défini de nouvelles bases. Aucun constructeur n’avait atteint ce niveau d’efficacité en matière de tenue de route avec une traction.
La plus grande difficulté avec cette 205 GTI est de trouver un exemplaire sain, pas trop kilométré. Compte-tenu de son succès, 294 514 exemplaires ont été produits en 10 ans de carrière et une très grande majorité a connu une existence mouvementée.
La voiture
Ce n’est pas le cas de l’exemplaire que nous proposons à la vente et qui date de 1986. Il affiche 97 900 km et se présente dans un bel état. Il a été entretenu avec soin.
Le spécialiste indique que le frein arrière est à remplacer.
Il s’agit d’un modèle noir, équipé comme il se doit des jantes d’origine et de l’intérieur caractéristique.
Le test routier confirme que le moteur est sain, que le comportement routier est très bon, tout comme le passage des rapports.
