This is one of Mercedes most successful models manufactured from 1971 to 1989. Registered as a historic vehicle and is tax and MOT exempt. I have owned the car since 2011 and it has been serviced by myself or a local garage. It has been kept in the garage and only driven in the dry.
At 108, 000 miles it has had the following work done: rear exhaust section, front and rear brake discs, pads and flexi hoses, rear brake shoes and calipers, seats upholstered, respray, most of the fuel injection system and central locking system replaced and a new front bumper totalling a cost of £9416.
The engine has done 112, 000 miles and gives off a nice v8 throb. All cylinders give a good compression of over 9 bar (any prospective buyer can borrow my compression tester to check this), the oil pressure gauge needle rises fully to the top, the gear box changes in a correct and timely manner and the red paintwork is in overall good condition.
While I have had the car, I have changed the rear boot lid and floor and a rear wheel arch. The interior facia and central console are in good condition (apart from the normal wear around the handbrake), with new floor mats. The hood is orginal and waterproof and there is a matching hardtop.
The main problem with these cars is the front bulk head fails and rusts through which causes most cars to be written off or a repair bill of up to £10, 000- anybody checking my car can pour water into the heater air intakes and see the water come out underneath the car from the correct drain holes, not into the footwell. The alloys on the car are 'Mexican hat' type and are not shown on the photos.
I have a genuine reason for sale as i'm moving house soon and losing my garage and so the car will need to go to a good home.
There are two problems with the car, the first is a crack in the bottom centre of the windscreen, this is not in the drivers field of vision and the cost of a new screen is £266. The second fault is a two inch line of corosion on the rear of the right wing near the rear wheel arch. I have factored these costs into the asking price and the general condition of the car. I'm a shift worker, so I don't answer, please leave a message. Thank you.
