When I wanted another e30 around 10years ago I looked at quite a few, cheap ones, expensive ones, 325’s, 320’s, convertibles. I went all over the country to look and always ended up disappointed. Eventually I found this one, not a perfect car but a good car. Owned by the same family from 1991 to 2013, and therefore, escaping the abuse which most other e30’s suffered during the dark days of the early 00’s. It was still standard and I have kept it the same. This car drives exceptionally well on its original factory fitted m-tech suspension and the engine is still amazing, doesn’t smoke or drink (can return 35mpg on a careful run) revs freely to red line as a twin cam should and is actually faster and easier to drive down a B-road than my 2 series.
In 2015 for various personal reasons the car stopped being used and consequently rust started to set in. The rear inner and outer wheel arches & sills have been repaired, front to back brake lines, front and back rubber fuel hoses and heater fan have been replaced. The MOT advisory list looks long at first sight but is only the short brake lines and a jacking point the welder forgot to fix last year. A new battery and radiator was fitted post mot.
This is a 31 year old car, it has had work done but is more than 95% there, with the last jacking point repaired it should be 100% rot free. Keep it standard and enjoy driving it and this will increase in value significantly this decade.
