Description
Sammio Spyder for sale once more.......
A unique opportunity to own a rare car is still possible as after confusion, an incorrect offer and someone who was very interested not showing up..... the car is still for sale, so please do not answer this advert if you are not seriously interested.
This is an open "fun" car with no weather equipment, great to drive on B roads, so if you live more than a few miles from Somerset I would recommend a trailer to get it home. On motorways and fast A roads you are outclassed by modern traffic
This original 1950’s evocation is a Triumph Sammio Spyder inspired by the open racing car bodies of the 50’s and 60’s. Classics such as Lancia and Jaguar.
The kit was supplied and professionally fitted to a Triumph Herald chassis by Gary Janes of Poole, with the remaining build carried out by the current owner.
The car has a Triumph 1300cc 13/ 60 engine and 4 speed gearbox which provides a spirited driving experience with the low weight and rear wheel drive.
The Spyder is the centre of attention wherever it goes and frequently draws a multitude of questions.
This is a drivers car – raw is one way to describe it, a car from a bygone era.
No doors, just hop over. Few creature comforts but you feel the road
The wheels are chrome spoked MGB fitted on new MWS hub adaptors. The seats are from a Jaguar XK, 4 point harness belts complete the cockpit. It is fitted with a silencer exiting just below your elbow so it is noisy, you feel every bump in the road and with rear wheel drive it slides easily, so it needs driving.
The Spyder was DVLA inspected and correctly registered by Gary Janes, V5 says Sammio Spyder, Sports Historic Vehicle.
The Triumph Herald has full detailed history from new in 1969 up to the 90’s. It has had 5 previous owners. I purchased the Herald doner in December 2011 and since then it has been a background project
The car has Historic vehicle status so no tax is payable, possibly MOT exempt but it h as a new MOT certificate to ensure roadworthyness.
The paint finish is not perfect but fitting for a car resembling a survivor from 50 plus years ago.
