For sale is our 1974 built golf swallowtail, genuine Uk rhd model.
Found dry stored for the past 35 years having only covered 80, 000 miles, 4 owners, service history booklet complete with 4/ 5 service stamps, original warranty card even still has the original wheel jack in the boot.
The car starts and drives but would need a full overhaul if it was to be used on the road. an issue with the distributor means that it’s not running as it should, I was going to get the distributor rebuilt and look at the brakes but have decided to not start pulling it apart and leave it to someone who has the time and more importantly space to get to know the car and all it’s warts.
Tax and mot exempt due to age.
With minimal work this car could be used and enjoyed or would make an excellent base for a restoration project.
Anybody who knows about these golf’s knows that they are as rare as hens teeth to find especially a Uk rhd model, I believe there maybe another 3 or 4 rhd models in the Uk and this being built august/ September 1974 maybe one of the earliest golf’s to have arrived from Germany to be sold in the Uk, registered in the county being sold by the local vw dealership and only being owned in the area until it was stored away back in 1985/ 86.
Obviously needs some amounts of welding in various places but remember it’s soon to be 50 years old and is a remarkable survivor that is practically impossible to get hold of. as I have stated lack of time and space as well as another on going project means that it would have to be left on the back burner for the next year or so before we get round to starting any work on it. would consider a px try me, many thanks.
