1986 Lotus excel SE. These cars are brilliant to drive and certainly one of the cheapest appreciating classic lotuses left. The engine is low mileage and the car comes with lots of receipts and a fair bit of history but not going all the way back, judging by the smooth gearbox and the way the engine runs absolutely spot on I can’t see why it’s not genuine unless it’s been completely rebuilt at some point, it doesn’t even leak oil!
Just had the dash out to overhaul the heater which now works and carried out all work I could underneath while it was out. Also stripped and rebuilt carburettors, new cam belt and V belts.
Thousands of pounds worth of receipts for previous work - most of which was carried out by a lotus specialist.
Powder coated wheels in original colour.
Original Gel coat in good condition but not perfect.
New lower front wishbone bushes and ball joints
Powder coated front arms and new bushes.
Powder coated front springs.
New washer bottle motor.
New Bonnet insulation.
New washer tubing and nozzles.
New door window frames.
New radiator correctly wired to thermostatic switch.
New Millers fully synthetic classic engine oil and filter.
New brake fluid.
New Bonnet cables.
New headlining. Cleaned and refreshed upholstery. Navy interior with denim look and red stitching.
