Kingsley totally re-engineer the original Rover V8 engine to add reliability, efficiency and increased performance.
We offer Kingsley re-engineered engines in two variants, 4. 6 litre and 5 litre with fuelling via either a modified, more efficient version of Lucas 14CUX fuel injection or via twin SU carburettors.
We achieve extraordinary, replicable, reliable results by ‘formula’ building engines so that quality and production remains constantly high. We take each individual component, making improvements so that once complete, the finished engine is dramatically improved over the original in terms of performance, reliability and fuel economy – the reality is that only the externals remain unchanged.
Kingsley re-engineered engines are guaranteed for 5 years, with an unlimited mileage when serviced by Kingsley annually or every 6000 miles (whichever is sooner). Engines which have not been serviced by Kingsley carry a 12 month or 6, 000 mile warranty (whichever is sooner).
Block – chemically cleaned, inspected, skimmed and aqua-blasted to an ‘as new’ finish. Oil ways are fully optimised and water galleries cleaned to give good cooling. Each of the original cylinder liners are removed replaced with a Kingsley specified ‘top hat’ cross honed liner for long term reliability. New main bearings, camshaft bearings and big end bearings.
Heads – removed, aqua-blasted and skimmed, then fully CNC gas flowed with larger 40mm inlet and 34mm exhaust valves with 3 Angle valve seats for unleaded/ E10 ethanol fuel (recommend Kingsley exhaust port matched manifolds for optimal performance), double valve springs and hydraulic lifters.
Pistons – new, Kingsley designed, high efficiency forged piston and ring set.
Crankshaft – original 4. 6 crank, re-ground, fully balanced with fully balanced 4. 6 conrods and new Kingsley pistons (balanced individually and as a whole assembly).
Flywheel - lightened and fully balanced.
Camshaft – Kingsley high-torque cam shaft with a long duration. New Vernier chain set.
Oil Pump – fully uprated with uprated gearing, relief valve and spring.
Water Pump – uprated high flow water pump
Distributor – Your distributor (fully reconditioned) or upgrade to a Kingsley Bluetooth electronic distributor with first wireless electronic ignition distributor. The distributor will only generate a spark when connected to your phone - a very effective immobiliser!
Ancillaries - new Lucas HT leads, NGK spark plugs, OE coil and your ancillary brackets to which we will install a new OE alternator, OE starter motor, OE power steering pump, uprated water pump, new belts, refurbished pulleys, oil pump, oil filter and oil filler cap.
Fuel injection engines – Modified EPROM with Kingsley ‘formula’ 14 CUX fuelling map, the latest generation of fuel injectors, Ported intake plenum with modified larger trumpets for increased torque, thermal plenum gasket to reduce air intake temperature, modified mass airflow unit.
Carburettor engines – New SU carburettor’s which have been internally ported and jetted, mounted to a fully ported intake manifold with a custom high flow ITG air filter assembly.
Kingsley re-engineered rocker covers (black for fuel injected engines and aluminium for carburetted engines). High quality gasket sets. Optional Brightwork for ancillaries replated or billet machined replacements.

Reliability & 5 Year Warranty*.
Rover V8’s were originally built to a price. At Kingsley we build V8 engines to be the best they can be – every single item is important and we use the best available, if its not available we make it and therefore nothing is compromised!
To illustrate our commitment to quality, we offer a 5 year warranty on our engines against manufacturing or internal parts defects as long as the engine is serviced by Kingsley annually or every 6000 miles. For engines which have not been serviced by Kingsley we still offer a 12 month return to Kingsley warranty.
Efficiency.
Kingsley re-engineered ‘formula build’ large displacement, high torque engines are by design more fuel efficient. The combination of fully balanced components, larger engine capacity, combined with the long duration, high torque camshaft, individually make small improvements but when combined the difference can really be seen.
When combined with Kingsley’s 14 CUX High Efficiency fuel injection, more air at a reduced temperature is introduced into the plenum chamber, the quantity of fuel is reduced, modern flow matched fuel injectors atomise the fuel better resulting in a bigger bang without the unburnt fuel issues Rover V8’s suffer from – the results are staggering, our demonstrator Range Rover regularly returns over 25mpg (11. 3 litres/ 100km) on a run!

Engines are supplied as exchange ‘turn-key’ engines. We will use your block, your distributor (reconditioned) with new Lucas leads, OE coil, and your ancillary brackets to which we will install a new OE alternator, OE starter motor, OE power steering pump, uprated water pump, new belts, refurbished pulleys, oil pump, oil filter and oil filler cap.
All 5000cc engines are Serpentine belt fronted and include a new Denso A/ C compressor.
