For sale is my eye-catching 1990 Volkswagen Corrado with its original 1. 8 16v KR motor. The car has been stored in a dry garage throughout the entirety of my ownership. It starts first time every time and runs well, with no knocking noises etc coming from the engine. Currently at 155, 000 miles this is a rarer non-sunroof model so all the typical issues surrounding Corrado’s and their sunroof’s being faulty or causing rust issues are avoided! I have many receipts covering in excess of £3, 500 of the work that has been done on the car in recent years.
Originally Tornado Red this Corrado underwent a respray back in 2016 to a much brighter shade of red that always looks exceptional in the sun light. The rear spoiler automatically goes up at 45 mph and back down at 15mph without fail. The bodywork is in great shape with minor age related marks and no rust. It’s only downfall is a small mark on the bottom of the passenger side where a previous owner has tried jacking the car up in the wrong place, but this has never bothered me. As seen in the photos the car has also had the front number plate recess filled and smoothed providing the option to remove the front plate for a clean look.
This car sits perfectly on adjustable coilovers and genuine Borbet Type A’s. The Borbet Type A’s are a staggered setup with 16x7. 5 on the front and 16x9 on the rear, they have all been professionally resprayed in Anthracite Grey. Tires are in good condition with the rears specifically being less than 1, 000 miles old. Fitted with an Imasaf exhaust system providing a great soundtrack both on idle and at higher revs. Due to the car being lower than standard on coilovers I have fitted a 70mm front splitter from VW Heritage so that there are never any clearance issues. However I do have the original 90mm splitter which will obviously be supplied with the car. I have also recently fitted Hella style fog light covers. The original grille has been changed for a badgeless grille, the rear taillights have been tinted.
It has a full cloth original interior, the interior is showing its age being 31 years old now. The only modifications within the interior are the Kode deep dish leather steering wheel with red stitching and a period Blaupunkt radio head unit which was purchased new by my father in 1993 and fits the car perfectly.
Bad points – one front indicator has a crack in it, but never bothered me enough to change it. Similarly, the windscreen has a small crack in the bottom corner on passenger side but it has not expanded in over two years and again not bothered me enough to get it changed.
There are very few cars at the same price point that grab as much attention as this Corrado whether that be at shows or on the road it always managers to turn heads.
