I am selling my 1975 Series 3 109 LWB Land Rover. It looks the part and runs well. I bought it in 2016 from my uncle in South Africa and I’ve had it authentically restored with original parts. I don’t want to part with it, but I need a second commuting vehicle.
Specifications:
2. 286 L petrol engine in original marine blue
Mileage (20 000km) but likely 120000 given (5point counter)
Three-seater pick-up retrofitted with safari roof and ventilation shafts
Right hand steering
High/ low range gears
Rubberised truck bed
Original aluminium-riveted body sprayed in Ascot/ Bronzed green
Wheels and canopy in sand colour
The engine is very clean, having been inspected inside and out and runs well.
In the photos you will see the rare and original Land Rover South Africa badge mounted on the rear and Land Rover Leyland attests to the authenticity of the vehicle as a “complete knock down” model assembled in South Africa in 1975. The vehicle is tax and MOT exempt under the DVLA historic vehicle class and I mounted enamelled black and silver number plates befitting that era.
Full service from F&R Commercials Series Land Rover Specialists completed a September 2020. I run it about once a week and keep it well maintained.

Starter motor
New original carburettor
Electric fuel pump – original mechanical fuel pump as back up & Good Year all-terrain tyres (only non-original additions.)
Ignition coil
New Series ignition barrel + key
New Series indicator stalk
Front galvanised bumper
Front bench seat with three seat belts
All electronics (all wiring replaced with Autosparks 109 looms with additional 12V auxiliary looms front and rear - Mechalec autoelectricians)
New oil sump gasket
New series door seals
New gear/ brake covers
New passenger/ driver windows
7pin tow connection
New speedometer cable
Screen wash bottle/ piping
All four stub axle locking pins
New 12V calcium battery.
New series standard range petrol tank.
New instrument panel switches, lighting.
Areas needing further work:
No heater installed - not fitted in safari vehicles.
Usual small water ingresses in cab - managed to get it quite dry
Truck bed conversion (currently a blank canvas).
Small oil leak (from gearbox)
I am in the process of changing front window sliders + water temp gauge.
Further parts included:
Original Land Rover spare wheel mounted on bonnet. Good year spare on back.
Fully restored series heater with new pipes and modified blower motor.
Bottle jack.
Spare bulbs, fuses.
All weather indoor & outdoor Series 3 cover.
