This is my 1987 Nissan Sunny ZX Coupe, that’s I’ve owned, on and off, for about twelve years.
The car has been a UK registered car from new, and was supplied by KAP Nissan, the main dealer, in Ramsgate, Kent. I originally spoke to them to confirm the cars pedigree, and substantiate the service details in the original warranty book and owner manual.
It appears that there are only a handful of these ZX RZ1 Coupes left in the Uk, but these were very expensive in the day (more expensive in fact than the Golf GTI) so did not sell in huge numbers, despite glowing test reports at the time.
This particular car is absolutely breathtaking from every angle, and its often said, but this car REALLY needs to be seen in the flesh and driven to fully appreciate its condition. The factory fresh two tone red over black paintwork absolutely gleams, and is totally original, NEVER having been painted or touched in. Again, the interior was upgraded to a full re trim in beige Connolly leather, and is completely unmarked. The under bonnet area is, as you’d expect, original and immaculate.
Out on the road, despite being over 34 years old, the car is more than a match for modern traffic. Not to be confused with the stock Nissan Sunny of the time, this car is powered by the twin cam, fuel injected 1600cc power plant, delivering around 120 BHP, and very lively. Complete with 5 speed gearbox, power steering, lower RZ1 suspension, discs all round, etc, etc, this is classic motoring in a very civilised way. Creature comforts include electric windows and mirrors, factory sunroof, quality stereo (plus original), etc, etc.
The car has been utterly cosseted from new, and the string of trophies it has won is endless. You may have seen it on display in the local Nissan main dealer when senior management from Japan were visiting. Much of the cars history can be seen in the six page feature of the car in Retro Car, and a copy of this will come with the car. The huge, impressive history folder includes period literature / brochures, original handbook / service book, old MOTs, bills, etc. The history confirms the “no expense spared” attitude towards the cars servicing. All fluids, belts (timing / auxiliary) etc have covered only a few hundred mile since being changed. Classic insurance only £110 per year, with an agreed value of £1200.
This must be the very best example of the breed on the planet, and is only for reluctantly for sale. The car will come fully serviced, and with a fresh MOT, ready to drive you anywhere. Please drop me a note or give me a bell if you’d like to chat about any aspect of the car. I may seriously consider a classic BMW Airhead motorcycle in a part exchange deal.
