HERE is my 1967 Jaguar 3. 4 S-Type. She is a manual/ overdrive and comes with the added luxury benefit of power steering.
Her mileage reads 36, 000 and, looking back through a substantial history, it was just 17, 000 as long ago as 1981 and so that reading could be correct. She has a current MoT until March 2022 (no advisories). This old girl has had thousands of pounds lavished upon her during the last 20 years or so, including bills for more than £4, 000 back in 2000 for a complete, detailed engine rebuild. There are dozens of bills after that, ranging from back then until around about now, totalling probably more than £5k or so for various work to various sections of the vehicle. Were I to lay out every invoice for the past 20 years before me, I am pretty sure they would come to more than £10, 000. Clearly, this is a car that has been much loved with records kept along the way!
She is the much desired manual/ overdrive model and of course the power steering makes a great difference. These luxurious S-Types with their independent rear suspension and top of the range interiors have really come to the fore in recent years and their prices have risen accordingly. Her wire wheels complete the pretty picture. She comes with a complete, brand new set of fitted carpets in dark red supplied by Coverdale Carpets. They are still packaged.
Please remember that these classic cars are the equivalent of motoring antiques and cannot, under any circumstances, be compared to your new BMW. Go around them with a fine toothcomb and you will find faults. They all have them unless they are presented as concours! They all need ongoing love and care. They tend to leak oil in varying degrees. They may break down, play up or even present you with a mystery that takes some solving. But that is all part and parcel of classic car ownership. They are there to be loved and cherished like a family pet. They are our motoring heritage and should be treated as such. This old girl for example is now 54-years-old.
