I am inviting offers for my fully restored 1983 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40.
Since restoration, the vehicle has covered less than 3, 000 miles. Over 2, 000 images including short videos exist of the complete restoration. Genuine buyer will be given a full detailed log of work carried out, images and videos.
This is without doubt one of the nicest examples of the 40 series in the UK.
The vehicle comes with a fully overhauled 13BT (3. 4 litre turbo diesel engine). This is from the B series family of engines which originally came with the vehicle and produced an output of about 80bhp (from factory when new). The 13BT which is a much loved and known as the bullet proof block produces 120bhp. The engine sits in its original mounting position (no modification to seat the engine).
The engine is then mated with the much loved and desired (H55f) 5-speed gearbox, replacing the 4-speed gearbox. The gearbox was fully stripped and overhauled before assembly.
The front bumper of the vehicle is adorned with its factory PTO (power take off) winch. The winch has been stripped and fully overhauled. The winch is fully operational.
The vehicle comes with the original factory air conditioning unit with the blower installed under the glove box. The vehicle also comes with a powerful factory heater installed in the centre console. The entire system has been stripped, serviced, new air con pipes and connections fitted including a new condenser.
The dashboard is fitted with the original factory radio player.
The glove box is adorned with the factory style 5 speed gear selector plate showing the FD knob function.
The vehicle is equipped with 2 front original Toyota 40 series individual seats with headrests and seat belts. The rear of the vehicle is equipped with two folding bench seats. All seats have been stripped, repaired, and reupholstered with matching door cards.
The rear of the cabin has been fitted with a roll cage setup to provide additional strength and safety.
The roof lining has been stripped, cleaned, and relined.
The frame was stripped, aligned, treated, and resprayed.
The body panels were all stripped to expose any rust, treated, and then painted. All images of every panel exist which show the condition of each metal panel and door before any treatments were applied.
Rear body panes were stripped, new panels installed, treated, and then resprayed.
Rear floor panel was stripped, replaced with new floor panel, and resprayed.
Every single nut, bolt, washer, and metal part has been removed, cleaned and cadmium plated before installation.
Fuel tank was stripped, repaired, and painted before installation.
All four shock absorbers have been replaced with brand new Bilstein shocks. Front steering damper has been replaced with the Old Man Emu steering damper.
All rear leaf springs were stripped, aligned, and replaced with new bushings.
Vehicle comes with brand new front new Toyota original headlights, left and right front fender indicators and also left and right rear brake light and signal indicators. All equipment sourced from Toyota.
The rear end of the vehicle is also fitted with both left and right new original Toyota factory reflectors.
The vehicle comes with 5 brand new Toyota original rims with new factory centre caps. All tyres are brand new and have covered only 2, 900 miles. The tyres are 31inch BFG K02’s. Vehicle comes with a full size brand new spare tyre.
All external hood fixings have been replaced with new original Toyota fixings including new wiper blades.
Entire floor (front and rear) is covered (not glued down) with an insulation material to help with noise and heat.
Entire floor has bespoke brown floor carpets (front, centre and rear).
Vehicle comes with the original jack fitted in the jack point.
Vehicle has recently been serviced by Paul at West Coast Off Road in Southport with a full inspection and upgrade of the steering box. The steering box has been stripped and fully overhauled by Steering Specialist Ltd (SSL) and fitted by West Coast Off Road.
This vehicle has had a stage 3 restomod done as recent as 2019. The vehicle is stored indoors and has never been driven in snow or been taken off-road since the restoration works.
