Description
motodrome are pleased to offer this rare 1965 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 soft top , finished in black with red hood.
Possibly the oldest running and driving FJ40 on sale anywhere right now. I doubt you’ll see another one at a pub or classic car gathering, but these have a growing following in the UK.
Obviously this one has deviated a bit from it’s original spec, with a matching set of 33in tyres on alloys, arch extensions, and later light arrangement. It does however retain it’s rear bench seats making it a 7 seater (if you’re intimate with fellow passengers) and the ubiquitous ‘million mile engine’ AKA the Toyota 3. 9 litre straight six petrol motor, which provides massive torque.
It is also, unlike many, still on it's original chassis with the correct FJ40 - prefix number in the right place.
This one was imported from Indonesia in 2020 and has just emerged from a decent overhaul in our workshops to make it useable, including (but not limited to) a new Weber DGV carburettor with manual choke, new water pump, thermostat and hoses, full ignition system overhaul, new universal joints, a service with the drivetrain oils changed, and all the roadgoing electrics (lights, wiper, horn etc) made to work properly. It’s also just had a new starter motor and a brake overhaul.
It's now ready to enjoy as is, or to be taken to the next level by a new owner.
It’s fully UK registered and is both MOT and road tax exempt due to it’s age.
It has superb road presence, and certainly makes an interesting change from a classic Land Rover. You’ll certainly stand out in this.
On our own website, you’ll find our usual 2 videos: a walkaround appraisal, and driving impressions.
