Not to be confused with its earlier 986/ 7 brethren – this is most definitely the ‘thoroughbred’!!
It was November 2007 that Porsche announced their production of the Limited Edition R60 Spyder - to commemorate Porsche’s Type 718 outright win of the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring – driven by Hans Herman & Olivier Gendebien. Only 1960 units were produced worldwide – with 800 of those destined for the USA. They were all painted in GT Silver with interior option of red or grey leather and came with a numbered production badge attached to the dashboard.
Other distinguishing features of this unique vehicle were the 3. 4S Boxster engine, with an increased power output to 303 bhp & a 0-60 time of 5. 4 seconds – a Porsche switchable sports exhaust – 10mm wider 19’’ Sport Design alloy wheels – Sport Seats – Lower front spoiler – Climate controlled air conditioning & Porsche active stability Management.
However, the initial owner of our unique car considered both interior options of red or grey leather rather garish & requested a black option – which was accommodated & probably is the only car off the production run to have this feature.
It is of course a matching numbers car with only one prior owner & a mere 17, 000 miles since new -and comes with a 12 month MOT with no advisories & a full service from Porsche specialist Parr of West Sussex.
This is most definitely a 'stand out from the crowd' car – Special Editions don't come better!
