EXTERIOR
This desirable 1. 8T 25th Anniversary GTI looks great in timeless Reflex Silver (one of only three colours available to this limited edition Mk4). The paintwork is absolutely first-rate throughout and presents with a deep, youthful shine across every panel. At the front end the body is almost entirely unblemished by any stone chips, and along both sides the car is arrow-straight. Looking closer, all the lights are clear and without any signs of moisture ingress, and elsewhere the seals and trims still appear in great shape. Clearly a cherished example it’s hard to believe this one’s actually driven 90k miles.

INTERIOR
The Recaro sports seats are trimmed in black Le Mans cloth with special red detailing. The interior remains feeling really fresh throughout and, as with the exterior, is much more in line with a car having done half the mileage. In fact, the upholstery front and rear presents with only the lightest of wear, the deep bolsters remaining in particularly sound condition. Other commonly worn items such as the steering wheel and gear knob show few signs of use, and in the footwells you’ll still find the original VW overmats all round. The special edition plaque in the driver’s door shut shows this example to be number 1, 661 of 1, 800 uniquely number examples.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The stock 1. 8-litre turbocharged petrol engine produces 178hp but, following a Stage 1 remap done in 2014, this particular example now develops in excess of 205hp (a dyno readout is included in the paperwork). Lifting the bonnet reveals a very clean engine bay with no signs of any damage or previous poor repair. The car is accompanied by the most amazing maintenance record having been religiously serviced every year without fail, a real testament to each of its owners. The last service was only recently carried out in July 2021 at 90, 199 miles.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The 18-inch BBS alloys really set the 25th Anniversary off beautifully, looking fantastic in a striking dark chrome finish. They remain in great condition all round with no curb marking to speak of, the only negatives to report being some age-related blemishes inside a few of the spokes. The tyres show plenty of life left, as do the brakes which remain in fine operational condition.
HISTORY FILE
1 of only 900 UK-supplied 25th Anniversary Editions with the 1. 8T engine, this cracking example was first registered in September 2002. It has now driven 90k miles in the hands of only 4 registered keepers. The car is accompanied by an incredible maintenance history with 19 service stamps filling two VW service booklets. It has been meticulously serviced every year regardless of mileage, with the first 8 services having been carried out at VW main agents. The History File is complete with all the original owner’s manuals, a thick stack of invoices, a 205hp dyno readout, numerous old tax discs, a spare key, and every MOT certificate since new further verifying the mileage.
