Simply superb 1963 Austin Healey 3000 MK. III. – Restored to the Highest Standard.
Originally supplied to North America, the car was repatriated during 1990, and then sat for many years before being resoundingly restored and subsequently registered in October 2015.
The first class restoration was carefully managed by the exacting owner and took approximately five years to complete. Looking through the extensive documentation and photographs, it is clear that the aim was to make this ‘Big Healey’ one of the finest examples in existence.
Particular attention has been paid to panel gaps and the finish of the coachwork, which was carried out by renowned Austin Healey experts Rawles.
The fabulous two-tone blue over cream coachworks, which cost approximately £16, 000 remains in excellent condition and is complemented by deep lustrous chrome work which was restored at a cost of almost £5000. To complete the exterior the car sits on a set of unmarked chrome wire wheels which are shod in period correct Michelin XAS tyres.
The incredible standard of the exterior continues with the interior, which is trimmed in deep blue leather with complimentary dark blue carpets piped blue and a lovely walnut dashboard.
New weather equipment was custom made specifically for the car by David Nightingale Coach trimming consisting of new ‘stayfast’ dark blue hood, hood bag and tonneau cover.
Mechanically this Healey has been extensively overhauled including its conversion to right hand drive. The engine has been stripped, overhauled, ported and polished with exhaust gasses extracted through a stainless-steel exhaust system, whilst the gearbox has also been rebuilt including the overdrive.
The detailed engine bay is a sight to behold whilst a new, period looking wiring loom and electronic ignition have been fitted to aid reliability.
