We are delighted to present for sale this TDI converted Land Rover® Series 3, which we have sold previously back in 2015. We always do what we can to purchase vehicles which we already have a rapport with – because they already have our ‘stamp’! This Series has been utterly reliable for the previous keeper in six years of ownership, which is great to hear too.
Externally, there are lots of desirable features – the recent canvas with side windows (for better rear passenger comfort), defender door mirrors for better visibility, vintage plates, rear grabhandles and rear step to aid loading into the rear. The vehicle sits on a set of cross-climate tyres, which give a good compromise between on road and off road ability and a positive stance. It is pleasing to note the fact the vehicle bodywork is of a spray type finish, rather than a brush.
The interior houses a set of 3 front standard seats, with deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear is fitted with a pair of twin benches, along with the spare tyre. The benefit of the side windows in the canvas is two fold – both bringing a light and airy feel, as well as aiding visibility for the driver. This means the whole family can come along, see out, and enjoy the open road. Please note the interior rear-view mirror has been fitted post photographs, as we wanted to get some photos in the daylight!
Out on the road, however, is where this vehicle really stands out from the crowd. The 200TDI engine has twice the horsepower of standard, meaning that getting to speed and maintaining it is easier. It also gives twice the economy over the standard petrol engine. It is mated to a set of high ratio differentials to allow higher speed cruising, along with lower RPM’s, and so less cabin noise and intrusion. Reliability is also much improved due to fuel injection, and it gives a very pleasing driving experience, more akin to later, coil spring 90 models than a Series – this is especially attractive as the vehicle benefits from MOT and Tax Exemption too, which the later vehicles do not (as yet!) – saving cost and reducing the hassle in the ownership experience as much as possible.
In summary, if you are looking for a MOT & Tax Exempt Series 3 Land Rover® which looks period but is more capable and flexible in the modern world, then this could be for you. With the ability to seat all the family, cross climate tyres for all-year round performance, 200TDi reliability and power, and cost-effective insurance premiums, this is an attractive prospect for new owners to the brand.
