Description
From 1947 to 1955, GM manufactured trucks were the best-selling light trucks in the United States. The first major redesign after WWII was known under the Chevrolet badge as the ‘Advance-Design’ series and featured integrated headlights, a stronger, sleeker body, and a larger cab. GMC 100 trucks were targeted toward professionals with focus on their reliability as utility vehicles.
This 1954 truck retains a real period patina with original dark blue paint peeking through the later copper/ gold colour scheme. It has an exceptionally rock-solid frame with no rust in the cab corners, floors, or running boards. It is a long wheel base model and has the factory side mount spare tyre and retains its original ‘jet rocket’ hood ornament.
Under the hood is a 4. 1 litre straight six engine with a 3 speed column shift gearbox. It starts very easily on the original 6v system and runs smoothly. Even without modern power steering and brakes, the truck is a pleasure to drive.
Because of the excellent condition of the chassis and bodywork, we have wanted to keep the truck as is as much as possible. It is in a very good position to be enjoyed as a near-original patina truck, a RetroMod project, or restored.
The truck has benefitted from a great deal of recent work but has clearly been kept up and running in good order throughout its life.
Recent work includes:
-Rebuilt starter motor
-Rebuilt heater valve and core
-New ignition switch
-New battery
-New park/ indicator light conversion kit
-New brake master cylinder and lines
-New hubcaps, headlight switch, heater switch, indicator switch
-Re-finished existing wooden bed
-Re-chromed grill
This truck has recently been imported from the US and will come with DVLA registration and number plates. Tax and MOT Exempt.
