This truck is in remarkable condition considering it is a 35 year old ex military defender! The body work has been hand painted (this is how they used to do it in the army back then) and is not perfect. The worst bit is some flaking on the passenger front wing. In my opinion this only adds to the charm and authenticity of the truck. The original spare wheel sits on the bonnet in traditional style.
The interior has has a slight seat upgrade which makes for a much more comfortable ride but in keeping with the truck. Overall a very clean interior finish. The original machine gun holders are still between the two front seats, I am told these can be cleverly converted to hold shotguns. The heating gets warm and demists the windscreen no problem. Sliding front windows are fitted.
The soft top although a little discoloured is in good condition, no holes and all the fastenings/ rear screen are in good shape. It is fantastic driving along with all the sides rolled up or even better with the top removed in the sunshine! This particular model came with side storage bins which is a nice touch
The original Wolf wheels with tyres are included in the sale. I decided the current wheels with a negative offset and some 'mud plugger' tyres really set the truck off. The wheel arches are slightly wider than normal to house the wider wheels and tyres. Also has an ORE front bash guard fitted, but this was just for visual effect. This truck is a real head turner!
The original plan was to convert this truck to a 200tdi with power steering (not currently power assisted) I do have a known good 200tdi engine, power steering box + pump, discovery transfer box and a steve parkers conversion kit for the engine. This is NOT included in the sale but happy to sell the package for what it owes me. Never got round to doing the swap unfortunately.
It is not a fast machine but it never misses a beat. The four wheel drive system works as it should and the size of it makes it very practical. My kids love it! This is a genuine old Land Rover Defender and is a glorious machine to drive.
