TVR Chimaera 400 (1999)
Full Mk2 spec car in Venice Blue (Venezia) / Portland grey / midnight blue interior. Lots of important maintenance and upgrades completed, including engine rebuild, ECU, electrics, outriggers; garaged, maintained by trusted TVR specialists and all records kept. This owner 5 years, previous owner 10 years prior, both TVR Car Club members. 6 owners prior to that. MOT to October 2022.
90k miles, engine rebuild at 63k (top and bottom end plus clutch and starter, TVR Power, fully receipted). This was in preparation for a supercharger that the previous owner intended but never followed through with. Canems digital ECU. AGM battery located in the boot, new in 2021. AP Racing front brakes, 300 mm discs and DS2500 pads (also new in 2021, Godspeed G-hooks). New rear rotors and pads at the same time. Recent genuine Mk3 Fiesta brake fluid reservoir (2019). Protech single adjustable shocks, rebuilt 2018 (10k miles since). Suspension overhaul 2018 - all wishbones, ARBs and brackets stripped, cleaned and re-coated along with new joints, bolts, bushes, washers, alignment etc. Body lift and outriggers replaced (David Gerald Sportscars, 2012). Garaged since and cleaned and touched in annually since. Subaru Impreza PAS conversion. New driveshafts and CV joints from Dave Mac 2021. Valley gasket, sump gasket & rocker covers in 2020, clutch master cylinder in 2020. Uprated engine mounts in 2019.
Mk 3 headlight conversion (halogen bulbs), new carpets & leather/ seat refurb in 2017 with carbon fibre skinned dash. Leven switchgear, new leather gear gaiter. Upgraded seatbelts with multiangle retractor (no locking when parked on a slope). CD/ USB/ DAB radio. Meta 2 alarm and immobiliser upgrade with remote boot release, installed by Carl Baker. This takes care of the legendary hot start issue. Recently refurbed gold badges. 17” Team Dynamics wheels, smoked chrome, Uniroyal Rainsport 5 tyres all round, lots of tread. Some ACT stuff in the engine bay, including smooth induction, done as part of a general coolant system overhaul during lockdown 1. The paintwork is original, so is not in concours condition. New spark plugs, MSD superconductor HT leads and thermal socks replace the worn out plug extenders.
The heavy lifting of suspension, driveline and interior repairs have been DIY, routine servicing has been by TVR specialists, annually, all receipted and with original service book. Stack of receipts over an inch thick going all the way back through the previous owners’ time to 2006, and some odds and ends from prior to that (all MOTs, some old V5s for example).
Comes with a few odds and ends, spares chip paint etc., plus a copy of Steve Heath’s very worthwhile book (aka the Bible). I believe this to be a solid car with all major risk points addressed so you can enjoy it straight out of the box. I've used it for commuting, day trips and shows, and all day drives and tours - it's been solid as a rock and never missed a beat.
