I have owned and run a lot of tigers over the last 40 years and this on. Is a bit special. All sunbeam tigers are rare and the mk2 is the rarest with only 532 built. This car started life in canada where it stayed until 1985 when it went to the us. It was there until 2012. before it was sold the vendor had the car tac'd by the sunbeam tiger owners association. They inspected the car and issued a certificate of authenticity which i have in the history file. The car was sold and exported to the uk where the new owner embarked on a full restoration and conversion to right hand drive. The car was stripped down and the bare shell sent for media blasting. On its return the shell went to a specialist body shop for restoration and many £000's spent. The 289 engine was sent to warrior engines for a performance rebuild which included dart heads, steel crank, steel h beam rods and much more. When finished the dyno sheet (on file) shows over 400 bhp. The owner purchased a new tremec 5 speed gearbox and all the ancillaries needed to complete the running gear. At this point the owner turned his interest to other projects and the tiger was never completed. I purchased the car from him in 2017 and continued the restoration. I had a tiger specialist inspect the work done so far before having the car media blasted again to prepare for a quality repaint in commodore blue (an original mk2 colour). the car is fitted with a lat vented bonnet. The car was then put back together with everything rebuilt, restored or replaced with new. This included new interior, hood, quality carpets, dashboard & dash top, all suspension, brakes, fuel/ brake lines, bearings, all rubber, windscreen, hoses, steering rack, shocks, stainless big bore exhaust & headers, fuel pump, wiring loom and much, much more. The engine and 5 speed tremec gearbox were mated with and ally bellhousing, new clutch, servo, hi torq starter, msd dizzy and again much more. There is an ally rad and an auxiliary electric fan. Very expensive 4 pot fron calipers with new discs. The car sits on 15 x 6. 5 lat 70 option wheels with new toyo tyres. New boot false floor and fittings. New tonneau. The list goes on and on. I hate to think how much has been spent in total and i am too scared to count it up. The car has just been finished and is not yet run in .
