Description
Sadly, due to my ill health, I am selling my brown 1964 Mercedes 220 SE Saloon Automatic. I bought this one owner from new car back in March 2013. As I had several other projects, this one was put on the back burner for a few years.
The car was solid and free of any rust when I bought it. The engine has been fully rebuilt by Scholar Engines Ltd. I have the itemised invoice from Scholar Engines which shows all works completed. Scholar have been building performance road and race engines since 1968 and are highly reputed in the classic car world.
The car has recently been stripped back to its bare shell and fully resprayed with the original colour coded brown paint by a well-known respectable professional body shop.
The front and rear windscreen seals have recently been replaced with genuine Mercedes Benz seals purchased from Germany.
All the seats are original and in a very good condition except the top of the rear back seat. All the door panels are original and in a good condition. All the side windows and screens are original and good. All the parts are there to complete the restoration.
All the rubber door seals are there but, in my opinion, it is not a good idea to restore the car to this extent and not renew all these rubber seals, especially when are not that expensive.
The car needs all the new break pipes and pads. The car needs 5 new tyres.
All the chrome and aluminium parts such as bumpers, rear and front head lights,… are present. Some need re-chroming, some need polishing and some are okay.
In all, the car needs to be assembled. Realistically, the main expensive part of the restoration has been done.
The car has a huge a mount of paper works, documents, service history, approved chassis number and engine number letter from homologation department of Mercedes Benz and many more.
This car has a very valuable registration.
This car does not currently have a V5C Certificate as it was lost by the previous owner prior to the modern DVLA System being created, and as I had already began restoring the car and stripped it for respraying, the DVLA said they would issue the new V5C when the restoration is complete. All of the communication and documents are in place with DVLA and Mercedes Benz Club for getting the V5C, just need to finish assembling the car for a inspection then the V5 logbook would be issued.
The car has full service history and alot more document.
Any serious buyer welcome for inspection of the full package. More pictures of the cars restoration are available on request.
