Description
A true ‘barn find’! Extracted from storage after 20 or more years, this wonderfully preserved Humber 9/ 20 has been in the same ownership since 1975. Mechanically overhauled, but not yet cleaned externally, so as to preserve the patina. A great opportunity to purchase a vehicle that would benefit from some care and attention by the next owner, hence why it has been left in its ‘as found’ condition.
Finished in cream over black and trimmed in dark mahogany leather, it is offered complete with weather gear and a running board-mounted spare wheel with cover. The Humber’s 1056cc inlet-over-exhaust four-cylinder engine features an aluminium cylinder block, Dynastart combined starter and dynamo, and magneto ignition.
The company was founded by Thomas Humber in 1868, initially manufacturing bikes, but rapidly expanding into properties in Nottingham, Beeston and Wolverhampton. A new plant was then created in Coventry and Humber produced their first motor vehicle in 1899. Made from 1925 to 1928, the 9/ 20 was something of a big car in miniature – beautifully made and trimmed and generously equipped by the standards of the day.
Would make a great wedding car.
