Description

AMC Rambler 660 classic air suspension

I’ve owned this for four years and have enjoyed every moment pretty faultlessly!

-Tax and MOT exempt.
-3. 2l (195. 6ci) iron block straight six with a 3 speed columnshift (flashomatic) automatic gearbox.
Engine has been recently serviced and runs like clockwork. Good strong oil pressure.
-Custom fabricated and fitted air lift dominator D2500 bags all round allowing nearly 8” drop. Gold metallic tank in the boot with a Range Rover compressor and manual paddles (recommend upgrading compressor as a little slow to fill)
-Cragar style 14” x 7j wheels all round with new tyres.

The car itself was a American made, then exported to Africa by the government to serve with the US aid movement in the 60s & 70s! Bags of paperwork to show this, including bill of purchase from the embassy and export paperwork. Along with a photo of it rolling along African dirt roads!
-comes with stock wheels too 14” steel wheels.
-original radio worked but recently stopped working, includes markings for nuclear announcement radio channels.
-Extremely solid all round, no areas of concern underneath and lots of care taken to keep Waxoyled and clean! They were factory galvanised.
-side exit exhaust, not too loud but gives a lovely deep burble.
The front wing bolts point have a minor amount of corrosion (see engine bay photo)
-needs new door rubbers as are very hard and crumbling.
- Needs handbrake cable or old one repairing as I have removed it due to the end ferrule coming off. Not an issue as it lays chassis when aired out and I leave it in park.

I should add that it can be returned to fully stock. The original springs and cups are included in the sale, it’s simply a case of unbolting the air ride brackets.
-large box of spares included! Including ball joints, brake parts, nearly all parts for a front disc conversion. All parts salvaged from a car destined for scrap.

Cruises lovely at 50-55, made for US speed limits!
I’ve used this to commute to work, travel to shows all around the country and to take out for the weekend. A thoroughly enjoyable drive, the complete experience of the 60s man!
£9500 ono
I could be interested in a running hill man imp/ singer chamois with £4K roughly your way on top.
