It is with great regret that, due to age and health issues, I am putting my much-loved Plymouth for sale. The car has been an absolute delight to own and drive and has been utterly reliable. While in my ownership for the last 5yrs the car has been regularly serviced to a high standard and upgrades applied to enhance the driving experience. The car has always been garaged in a heated and dry facility. I have driven the car all over the country to Yorkshire, West country and many various shows. The car drives well and has no trouble keeping pace with modern traffic with a smooth operating gearbox and willing engine which makes for a truly pleasurable driving experience.
BODYWORK; The overall condition is superb, with no evidence of any rot or rust that would cause any concern and is complimented with good chrome and stainless trim work. As I drive the car frequently there may be an odd stone chip but nothing that detracts from the overall look. I have the facility of a hydraulic lift so a thorough inspection of the underbody can be carried out. I have fitted a period correct sun visor which really enhances the overall look of the car.
MECHANICS; Because I wanted a reliable car, the fluids and oils have been changed regularly along with particular attention to greasing points. Just recently the fuel system has received a comprehensive overhaul with new lines, replacement carb, upgraded electronic fuel pump and the fuel tank cleaned and flushed. The engine maintains factory oil pressure at all temperatures with no signs of leaks or blue smoke. The engine is a stove bolt straight 6 which is renowned for being "Bomb proof"
BRAKES/ EXHAUST; The braking system has been fully overhauled with new wheel cylinders, brake lines and brake shoes. The exhaust system has been upgraded with new exhaust manifolds and a twin stainless steel exhaust system which sounds superb. The car now runs on new period correct whitewall tyres including the spare.
INTERIOR; The pictures show a fabulous interior maintaining the original "Art Deco" features. The bench seat has been re-upholstered in dark blue leather with matching door cards and carpets. The "Art Deco" dash is a joy to behold and all the gauges work as they should with the exception of the valve radio. The interior heater is the best I have come across whether it be in a modern or classic car warm as toast in the winter and opening the fresh air vents is cool in summer.
ELECTRICS; When I bought the car the electrics had been converted from 6volt to a 12volt system. I had custom-made and supplied a vintage period correct battery from Lincoln batteries which has performed faultlessly.
SUMMARY; My ethos for owning the car is that it must be reliable and a joy to drive, which it has been always. The car draws attention wherever it goes and was a subject of a major feature in Classic American magazine over 20 years ago. It was a great car then and is even better now, having been cherished by dedicated owners. The car won the prestigious "Truman Class Trophy" at Blenheim Palace "Rally of the giants" during my ownership.
