Offered for sale is my lovely 1999 MGF Roadster 1. 8 MPI finished in the rarest MGF colour of them all - Morello. Of which only 260 were ever made. (140 in this spec!)
A genuine reason forces sale (i have a wedding to pay for which means it has to go!)
Originally supplied by Martins Rover of Winchester this car has covered just under 98, 500 miles from new and benefits from having never been modified or adapted in any way retaining its original look and feel. It has clearly been cherished and has been garaged most of its life.
Under the engine bay: (It's in the back you know!)
This car comes with the powerful yet reliable 1. 8 MPI K Series Engine 120 BHP Edition. (Insert Headgasket Comment Here).
It has been well maintained and serviced by a Rover Engineer with a recent Multi-Layered Upgraded Steel Headgasket fitted (as a precaution) along with changing at the same time the timing belt, water pump and many other engine-related gaskets and seals preserving the life of the vehicle for future owners.
Mechanically:
The car has recently been serviced, again by a Rover specialist, with new brake discs and pads all around with good quality new tyres also. A brand new catalytic converter has been supplied and fitted due to the previous one (documented on MOT history) not meeting the emissions requirements.
It honestly drives beautifully, with a well-balanced suspension system and plenty of power. Super responsive steering offers a brilliant driving experience. A throaty exhaust noise also lets folks know you are coming, but not in a 'hey look at me' way!
Interior:
The interior is finished in a part leather part fabric look, with the funky 'Fusion' fabric on both the door cards and seats and green piping. Trim code LQP if you need it! The majority of the interior is black and offers plenty of room with both the hood up and down. No damage to the interior, with the seats and plastic having been clearly very well looked after.
There is an aftermarket radio unit fitted which is fully functional and sounds great.
Power windows working as should, with no damage or cracking to the dash or binnacle.
Hood:
Fitted within the last 5 years the car has benefited from a brand new hood which fits nice and tight with no whistles or rattles at speed. This has been upgraded by a previous owner to include a glass rear window which is nice and bright and heated rear elements that are all working as they should. Importantly there are no leaks!
This has cost the previous owner over £800!
Wheels:
Original 15'' 6 spoke alloy wheels - Recently refurbished at a cost of over £300 with just a few minor marks to one due to a rogue stone! Very good condition overall.
Exterior:
Finished in the above mentioned Morello (Pearlescent) CMV paint from the factory, it really is a head turner and the rarest colour ever put onto an MGF. This paint code ran from 11/ 11/ 98 - 22/ 04/ 99 so a really small window of time. Highly sought after by collectors and believed to be less than 30 left in the world! The colour really has got to be seen to be believed! In some lights, it really does look deep purple ... in the sunshine a deep maroon red.
The car has benefited at some point in the last 5 years from some bodywork (1999 car remember), with repairs being made to the N/ S and O/ S sills (rust related I assume) and both rear wheel arches. These have clearly been done professionally with a good colour match with the rest of the paintwork!
The lights are nice and clear and bright with no fading or hazing.
The Boot / Frunk:
The rear boot floor is nice and clean with no damage or marks. The original cargo net has been torn (see photos).
In the front, a spare wheel (proper one not a spacesaver!) and a free set of jump leads! Again nice and clean and tidy.
The downsides:
In my opinion, the ONLY thing that really lets this car down is a number of 'knocks' to the paintwork. None have physically damaged the paint surface, with no deep scuffs or scratches - no paintwork is needed (which is a real winner)!
There are however multiple 'dings' to the passenger's door, boot lid and a few others 'scattered' about the car which have clearly been collected with use over the past 25 years!
I am very confident a professional dent removal company will be able to rectify these easily with a paintless dent removal procedure. Again these have not damaged the paintwork but do look unsightly if you want a show winning car. I have mentioned these purely for full disclosure purposes only.
Overall a fast appreciating yet usable classic, perfect for trips to the seaside or for taking to your local car show. Either way, I am certain it will be a fantastic addition to anyone's life!
Sensible offers are considered. I am keen for this to go to the right person who will enjoy and look after it.
The car can be driven and viewed in Boston Lincolnshire. I am happy to answer any questions via email but do prefer a phonecall.
