Hi, we are Classic Mini specialists Paul Higgs Cars based in New Milton in Hampshire.
We are very pleased to offer a fantastic 1989 Golf GTi 16V 3 door finished in one of the best colours, metallic Atlas grey. To say I am a fan of these cars is an understatement, they are surely the most complete hot hatch of the era, offering good looks, exciting performance and making you the centre of attention. I have owned numerous GTi Golfs including and Mk2s have always been my favourite of all them. After not driving for one for many years and I am pleased to announce that they are still just as much fun to drive and they have rightly earned their place as a Hot Hatch Classic. This very original example has been very well preserved and has had the same owner since 1990 making it a two owner example. It still has the bill of sale from 1990 from Whites VW in Aldershot and it still wears both its original dealer number plates which is a rare find on any Hot hatch. It is accompanied with a comprehensive service history which dates back to the very start and its original book pack, service book and two sets of keys. This GTi has fantastic provenance and very low ownership.
On the road the 16v is a car that can be driven gently and return near 40 MPG and then push it round the rev band and it comes alive with oodles of power as it launches off to the horizon, although modern hot hatches have more power, they weigh twice as much so performance will surprise given that this GTi is now over 30 years old. All systems work including the MFA and it is just a pleasure to drive. We have thoroughly prepared this GTi doing all the important work so its lucky new keeper will have peace of mind. The long list includes, refurbished lattice alloys, four new Yokohama tyres, shocks and springs all round, cambelt, water pump, tensioner, starter motor, alternator, battery, dizzy cap and rotor and an oil and filter change.
The interior is very well presented and has those amazing and super rare factory fitted Recaro front seats which have electric height adjustment. They transform the driving experience over the standard GTi seats and they are in very good condition as is the rest of the interior, again pointing to a cared for life. The rear parcel shelf is complete and the original roof lining is also in good condition. The MFA is fully functional and it has a CD player fitted. This model also features electric windows, central locking and a sliding sunroof.
This GTi has a very solid body with what appears to be all of its original panels. the paintwork is very well presented and this car certainly gets lots of attention. It does have minor age related marks which do not detract from its fantastic presence. This is a very original example which belies its 33 year vintage and will certainly make sits new smile on the open road.
This GTi is fully serviced and ready to be driven, cared for and enjoyed as much as I have.
