Honda 90 Step-through Scooter (new price)
Technically a CM91 registered in 1967, running and working.
The Honda CM91 was also known as simply the Honda 90.
V5C registration mark JDV83E
Date of first registration April 1967.
The CM91 series was manufactured up to September 1967, with an 89cc OHC single-cylinder engine and ‘slammer’ 3 speed gearbox with centrifugal clutch and rocker-gear lever (toe/ heel) so this example is one of the last of its kind to be registered.
Sometimes confused with the US version, the Honda 90 Cub.
The CM91 has enclosed forks, D-shape speedo (up to 60mph), Six-volt electrics, (original UK/ Euro delivered spec), Grey paint, with white side-panels and no badges and no indicators.
The later Honda models have indicators and 12 volt electrics this Honda 90 pre-dates all that.
This bike was dry stored for over 20 years and had a number of faults preventing it starting, it is short of one side panel and the mirrors.
This bike is fitted with a rear carrier which is very useful as a handle to move the rear wheel and set it on its stand.
Some consumable parts need replacing, foot rest/ kick start rubbers, tyres, leg shield, one side panel and seat cover as an example, all commercially available.
I have recovered the bike to reliable starting and operation but do not wish to restore it myself.
It is in original condition with original grey UK spec paint, non badged leg shield and side panel just as it was delivered in 1967.
For myself, I have listed and priced up the spares required to return this bike to its original condition and the cost is not excessive based on resale values.
The engine has good compression and is in good working order after a top end overhaul.
The original leg shield is cracked but new one is £30, battery side panel is £30, paintwork is rust pitted but original grey.
V5c in my name, SORN,
Tax and MoT all not required due to its classis status.
Near original, needs sympathetic restoration as example of original, untouched, show bike perhaps.
