Launched in 1989 the MK3 Ford Fiesta was the third iteration of Ford's incredibly popular supermini. It was an entirely new platform rather than an evolution of the MK2, ditching the car's rear beam axle for a semi-independent torsion beam. The MK3 had the longest production life of any Fiesta to date, though relatively few low-miles examples remain.
The "Flight" was a special edition and to quote the original sales brochure for the model: "When it comes to distinctive styling, the sky's the limit for the Special Edition Fiesta Flight. Its strong individuality comes from the smart metallic paint finish, sporty alloy wheels, special body striped and the superbly equipped interior. Electrically powered front windows, central locking and remote tailgate release are just a few of the valuable features which contribute to effortless driving and new heights of motoring satisfaction".
This car is a 1991 "pre-facelift" 5-door example in Matisse Blue with the easily-maintained 1. 3 engine that starts on the button with a manual choke.
Apart from a slight rust patch on the rear offside arch (that could easily be repaired), the car presents very well indeed, thanks largely to the single family ownership from new (apart from myself). The interior is in good condition, with original radio, mats and seat cloth without tears.
The original bill of sale is included dated 9th October 1991, showing that the family traded in a 1988 MK2 Fiesta 1. 4 Ghia. The original service book is included which shows local Cheltenham servicing throughout its life, stamped all the way up to August 2021 at a mileage of 35794 miles.
All original booklets and owners guide are included, including the code for the radio! A handful of receipts are also included showing a new clutch was fitted early in its life. The most recent MOT certificate is also included showing no advisories, which expires on 6th August 2022.
