Standard 8 – Gold Star Model
The Standard Eight introduced in 1953 was a completely new four door saloon with unit construction and an overhead-valve engine. By 1957 the 803cc engine produced 30 bhp at 5000 rpm through a 4-speed gearbox and the last run ’Gold Star’ benefitted from an opening boot and wind-up windows. The car was popular with small businesses & driving schools alike and over 136, 000 were produced.
Our lovely original car was initially a company vehicle with James Pascall Ltd Mitcham and has had only five keepers from new. The previous owner lavished lots of attention on “Stanley” including body restoration in original Powder Blue, various mechanical work and today the car drives extremely well.
Still carrying original registration number, excellent two-tone interior/ roof lining/ carpets and a history folder that includes original buff logbook & service book, correspondence from previous owners, MOT’s, invoices etc. this Standard is a rare survivor in time warp condition
Stanley is an ideal entry to classic car ownership and will give years of pleasure to the lucky new owner.
