Description
This Turner 950S had a full nut and bolt restoration over a period of roughly 16 years by my late father after he had acquired it as a wreck from a barn near Hastings in 1979. This is a rare classic that can be enjoyed and shown, but is not a concourse example.
The chassis was professionally welded, the engine was fully restored and bored out to 998 cc, then converted to use super unleaded fuel. As far as I am aware all other components have been replaced and upgraded where appropriate.
The car has four new tyres (and a spare), a new hood, removable window panels and a tonneau cover, new seats as well as a selection of spares and appropriate manuals. Since it is pre 1960 there is no MOT, or car tax required and insurance including break down cover (for my wife) is around £150 per annum.
It starts and runs well, the car is fully restored, however I believe it would benefit from further work such as a new wiring loom to ensure all the electrics work properly, as currently some do not. The dashboard could equally be updated. There are also a couple of minor stress cracks near the bonnet since the bodywork is fibreglass. Unfortunately, I do not have the skills, or the space, to carry out this work because I cannot even physically get into the car!
It has been valued by the Turner Sports Car club at £15, 000 and the registration plate has independently been valued at £5, 000. Offers above £15, 000 would secure it for the next owner. There are several other Turner 950 S advertised that are significantly more expensive at over £30, 000, therefore I believe this is a fair price for such a rare car.
