Description
For Sale is my 1978 Chevrolet Monza 2+2 2. 5L Automatic
Before reading this description please be aware that this car is located in Normandie, France - I’m a Brit living over here (so no language barrier issues), but can arrange transport to the UK!
This Monza has lived its whole life in Antwerp, Belgium after being ordered new by a ‘Lady’ who only drove the car in high heels - hence the small hole in the carpet in front of the throttle pedal (so the previous owner says).
I bought it from the second owner (through a dealer) in late 2019, but with Covid striking and life getting in the way, I just never found the time for the old girl! So it hasn’t been driven in my tenure.
She starts and purrs fine with no strange noises, she has only 46, 000 miles on the clock after all, but the ignition timing will need to be set correctly which I haven’t got around to doing, and the Tank or fuel lines will need to be cleaned as there are issue with it drawing fuel (I use a Jerry Can with electric pump rigged up to it).
Brakes will need work along with; Engine mount replacement (they come with the car) and there is rust on the bottom of the Doors - not on the sills, and only on the inside of the door interestingly. As you can see on the photos there is a little surface rust visible on the door skin but the join between the skin and the frame has split. There is is also rust in the rear arches, but only on the very outer skin and can be seen in the photos, as far as I am aware there is absolutely no more rust in the arches or anywhere else underneath.
She’s a gorgeous Medium Green metallic with tinted Green windows and Green interior, and with the 2. 5L engine you don’t get much greener than that for an American classic!
Also I’ve installed a Wooden steering wheel but it does come with the original Green one, it has Belgian registration and a bunch of paperwork including an original build sheet which details it’s colour options (Green, Green & Green).
I am open to part exchange, whether that’s an older car (something pre-1990 ish, the older the better even pre war of any body style) or for various parts which can knock some off the price, I'm looking for:
Land Rover LT77 Gearbox in Good condition
Land Rover Series 2 Bulkhead in Good condition
MGB Rear axle
Jaguar Straight 6 engine (from an XJ6 not the slant from an XJ40)
Any questions please ask, obviously if you want to view the car in person you will need to come to France - but I’ll be as accommodating as possible in regards to pictures or videos if you would like to buy the car unseen.
Comes with quite few spares as well!
