UNEXPECTEDLY BACK FOR SALE this stunning and original Lotus Esprit S2 - 1979
In Championship Gold with Champagne leather interior. I have slightly reduced the original price for a quick sale as I have a new Lotus waiting.
This car is a really rare example in probably one of the best colour combinations. It is number 10 out of 27 Esprits made in the same colour and trim/ spec.
We believe there may only be a handful left worldwide. This was the colour used by Colin Chapman to launch the new S2 which has many upgrades and improvements over the original S1. Paintwork in exceptional condition.
It has been in dry storage for over 20 years during it’s life as can be seen by the remarkable condition. It still has the original Marcasite interior trim which is in timewarp condition and everyone who has seen it has been stunned by the quality.
It has been back on the road a number of years now and runs very well.
Electric windows and pop up lights and original radio cassette. This is a factory spec car which is most unusual as owners often add or modify to suit their own taste especially as it is over 40 years old. With the original engine, wheels, interior although it has had a few minor modern day upgrades such as electronic ignition, improved earthing cables and battery isolator.
I recently had the carbs fully rebuilt , balanced and tuned with photos of every stage along with much recommissioning work carried by a well respected Classic Lotus engine specialist.

This car has featured recently in numerous Lotus magazines (this is my second Lotus and I regularly write articles for the Lotus Drivers Club magazine -I am a true Lotus enthusiast) and was earmarked for a possible starring role in a film set in the late 70’s. I have taken it to a few Classic car shows and events (difficult in the last 18 months) and she has won numerous prizes, a real head turner.
This is a very genuine car and a rare opportunity to acquire a stunning example of the S2 which sits nicely against many of the much more expensive poster cars of their day. (I think it outshines them but I am a bit biased!!)
It is a reluctant sale with genuine reasons.
