An absolutely stunning nut and bolt restoration of an iconic early 70's motorcycle.
This Yamaha AT2 has been stripped down to its component frame parts which have then been repainted or polished and reassembled in such a way that its sympathetic to the original style and spirit of the motorcycle. This iconic and rare bike began life in 1972 and was exported to the U. S. in response to the surging popularity of trail riding at that time. It quickly established itself as a very capable machine and the smaller more agile younger brother of the already popular DT2 250 introduced in 1970. I purchased it in 2021 from a previous owner who'd completed the first part of a restoration and took it from there .
He replaced the top end of the engine and stripped and reassembled the frame .
Fuel and oil tanks have been cleaned inside and out and painted in a stunning Orange candy paint scheme nb the front fender is yet to be fitted as the stays are with the electroplaters being rechromed) The headlight bowl and fork ears have been refinished in the same way and it really pops on the sunlight . Front and rear lights have been rebulbed and cleaned and polished .
A brand new wiring loom has been custom made and functions perfectly with the original specification indicators.
The seat has been removed stripped and reassembled with reconditioned foam , a new seat cover and new retaining strap
A new sprocket and chain has also been provided .
New brake and clutch cables have been fitted and all cables have been serviced and lubricated.
The clutch has been stripped and reassembled with new friction discs , springs and retaining bolts along with a transmission oil change .
A new kick start arm and return spring is fitted to the kick start.
A rare nos replacement exhaust is fitted and is in great condition .
Front and rear suspension parts have been refurbished and repainted and provided with with new oil, oil seals and dust seals.
All chrome parts including the have been stripped and repolished or replaced . The wheels have both been rebuilt with new spokes.
Front and rear fenders have been stripped down and repainted and the chrome stays rechromed at derby platers.
The clocks have been stripped and fully rechromed and the speedo has been cleaned inside and out and fitted with a new face and needle.
New spark plugs are fitted along with a new coil and condenser and the ignition timing is re-set to the factory spec. The oil pump has been serviced and set to the correct delivery ratio to ensure the engine is correctly lubricated.
New brake shoes are fitted to the front and rear brake drums and the brakes adjusted so the bike stops well.
New front tyre and rear tyres are fitted to the polished rims .
The timing and carburretur have been set to ensure it runs smoothly and it really zings !

This 50 year old investment quality motorcycle is ready for another 50 years !
