Colour - Silver / First Registered - 01/ 08/ 87 in Glasgow / Engine - 1. 6 Carb / Gearbox - 5 speed Manual / Mileage - 99, 000 miles / MOT - September 2022.
I have owned this for 6 years and had lots of fun, but it's been in storage since it's last MOT and just not getting used, so time to let it go in time for summer.
This car has a very comprehensive service history with every old MOT, invoices and service receipts from new.
In 35 years, there have been a total of 12 owners including myself, however don't let this put you off. The history with this car is really something else (there is a full folder of stuff) and you can see that a few people have bought it as a summer car and sold it on again. There have been a few long term custodians, one of which was an older woman who owned it for 12 years. She then passed it to her son who kept it for a few years. I myself have had it for 6 years, during which time I have only covered around 5k miles.
Mechanically the car is very good. Starts every time. Plenty of power in it's 1. 6 carb engine (non-GTI model). Brakes and exhaust were both replaced within the last 2 years and it also had a replacement battery. It was also serviced last year and has covered less than 1000 miles since.
Bodywork wise it's presentable but does have some dings and paint bubbles, particularly around the windscreen and the bottom of the doors, but there is no rot and the underneath is solid.
Interior is really nice. The seats have been replaced or recovered with leather at some point, but everything is there and complete.
Roof - a new blue mohair roof was fitted in 2014 by the previous owner (receipt included).
Known issues. Aside from the bodywork mentioned above, the following are things that will need attention at some point:-
1. Both front upper mounts are perished and could be doing with replacements.
2. The wiring to the rear lights isn't the best. A previous owner has re-wired the bulb holders at some point and it could be doing with a proper going over, possibly with new bulb holders.
3. The rear indicators and side lights are intermittent. I presume this is as a result of the wiring mentioned above.
4. When parked outside in very heavy rain, water does get in from the drivers side B-pillar. This needs investigating, possibly a replacement rubber seal.
5. The dashboard clocks do not illuminate at night. Replacement bulbs required.
It is MOT'd and insured but not currently taxed. You are welcome to come and view, and I am willing to tax it for a serious buyer to take it on a longer road test.
Full V5 in my name. Happy for any inspection.
Given everything mentioned above, I have priced it at a very reasonable £2800. No offers or swaps please.
