I have owned this car for approximately nine months, and have enjoyed it immensely. It's a lovely car to be in and it drives very smoothly and the classic BMW straight six engine note is always a delight.
However, I now walk to work (and for the bulk of my day to day activities) so owning this seems a bit of a non brainer.
When I bought it, I acquired it from the original owner who was only selling the car due to the ULEZ affecting his road. It had lived outside the whole time he owned it, and has continued to do so with me. For reasons unbeknownst to myself, I didn't take any of the service history he had when I got it, so there isn't any. Judging by how it drives, it hasn't been neglected.
The interior, bar some small marks to the driver seat, is in great condition and is completely original. Everything works, except the air con.
The exterior is overall decent but as mentioned, living outside for a quarter of a century means it is not a mint example. The previous owner had a stranger (someone knocked on his door?!) retouch some paintwork on the roof and on the rear quarter by the passenger door, and it's not the best. They aren't huge areas and can only be seen fairly close up, but they are there. The headlights are doing the classic E39 fog, but are still fine for the moment. I paid for a fairly large piece of the driver side rear sill to be repaired at the last MOT, which was the only item it failed on. The brakes may need doing at some stage, not because they don't work (they work fine) but the discs are marked and it does screech occasionally.
The rubber around the windscreen has perished. I imagine this is due to it being original. There are some slight marks on the bodywork as you would expect with the age of the car.
Never had any issues driving it, the gearbox is smooth, the power delivery from the throttle is fine, it always starts first time. No warning lights and no issues with temperature.
I should probably keep it but it's going to waste here.
I am open to a potential swap but would be interested only in a Peugeot 607/ 406 or a diesel 147/ Stilo.
Price is low.
