It’s our opinion that GM/ Vauxhall missed a huge UK market opportunity with this incredible car. Not only could it be GM’s best-looking car but its size and prowess would be have appealed to a younger generation of driver. Something that Vauxhall failed to do over its many years of trading. Yes, we had the Manta but this was beyond the financial reach of the majority and too big to be considered a young man’s sports car.
This fantastic car was imported from California where it supposedly lived for 47 years. Then followed a full restoration and mechanical overhaul of the 1. 9 litre 88BHP engine and during this time was upgraded to a 5-speed gearbox – a great addition. In addition, much of the interior has been replaced and improved.
Recognised by Opel GT UK owners club which confirms this chassis number 94211376 was built as model Type GT filled with the 1. 9 engine mated then to the 4-speed manual box. It confirms a 1970 build date and the car was built to European spec.
