I bought the Vmax 1700 brand new from Yamaha Wigan for £21000 which included the genuine Yamaha wide wheel kit (240 back wheel and tyre instead of the original 200 tyre, genuine Yamaha wheel not cut and shut 200 wheels which you can buy now). One month after I bought the bike Yamaha dropped the price by £2000 so I wasn't pleased and complained. Yamaha offered to convert my 2014 bike into a Carbon model 2015 bike which hadn't even been released yet. I thought brilliant! but I didn't want the Akrapovic exhausts since I liked the look of the originals so I asked if I could put the price of the exhausts to some more carbon fibre and an Akrapovic X-pipe with some more money from me. They agreed. I rode the bike to Wigan and they spent the entire day fitting everything for me. So you could say this could have been the first Carbon Edition model ever made. All it needs is the Akrapovic end cans and it would be the Carbon Edition bike BUT better.
The bike has all Genuine Yamaha carbon fibre fitted and the only none-genuine carbon is the fork protectors. The carbon twill on these are an exact match to the Yamaha parts. The bike has an Otec frame infill panel, ASV levers, genuine Yamaha 60th black mirrors, genuine Yamaha billet swingarm pivot point covers, genuine Yamaha backrest (grey stitching to match the seats). I have fitted a K&N air filter and have done the 'letter box' air modification which lets the bike breath better. The Vmax is heavily restricted as standard so my bike spent 3 days at a well known bike tuner in Malton at a cost of over £500 (he has tuned bikes all his life and has worked on many TT and BSB bikes). He has done a custom tune and removed all of the restrictions in each gear so should be able to reach 165mph now but I haven't tried. I have the Dyno sheets and it now has 187. 19 BHP at the rear wheel and 124. 56 ft-lbs of torque. To get the power down better I have fitted the DD clutch modification using genuine Yamaha parts, this reduces the impact of the slipper clutch.
I only ever ride the Vmax in warm weather, I know people always say this but you can tell just by looking at the bike that this is true. I have been caught in the rain a few times but I could count the number of times on one hand. The Vmax has only ever been ridden by myself (48 years old), never been on a track or drag strip and its cleaned after ever ride. I have an A4 folder full of history, I keep every receipt but the only thing I haven't got a receipt for is the bits that have been Ceramic Cerakote coated black, well over £1000 worth.
I thought I was keeping this bike forever but I have managed to buy my dream motor bike, another Vmax 1700 60th Edition, so that's why the 'Carbon' Vmax is for sale.
The Vmax has low mileage of 4800 miles and has just been MOT'd, expires 11-04-2023.
I am asking £19300 which may seem expensive but the Vmax is immaculate and dripping in Yamaha accessories.
The Vmax is located in Darlington and I am not allowing test rides since this bike is an animal, if you want you can watch me ride up and down a dual carriageway.
