Genuine Ford Cortina Savage 3. 0. This car is known to the Savage Register and it comes with 13 pages of documentation from them showing that it was originally a 4 Door GT in Dragoon Red, which was sent to Jeff Uren Ltd in May 1968 to be converted to a Savage 1. It was originally ordered with walnut fascia, 5. 5J Chrome Plated Sculptured Wheels and Contour 7 Seats.
We have the original Savage Sales brochure which interestingly is labelled as Savage 3000E. The car has had 8 owners and the last owner has had it from 2008. The previous owner had it from 1995 to 2008. We have various receipts for money spent on it over the years. The last owner used it on 16 Classic Car Tours and covered over 20, 000 miles all over Europe.
Body - 4 Door GT shell with all the correct extra strengthening plates in place. Good solid car which has been painted body colour underneath. its had a few repairs over the years but these are fairly minor. Its a very solid old shell. Panel gaps are not too bad at all and certainly no worse than when they left the factory. Additional front and rear spoilers are obviously not standard, neither is the black stripe or roof. The last owner did the car how he wanted it which might not be to everyones taste. Bonnet has had a capri scoop added to clear the webers. Twin tank set up in the boot, which I believe was an option from new. Secondary tank has been changed to a modern alloy one.
Mechanics - 3. 0 V6 engine which has had triple webers added. The car runs very well and ticks over from cold. As previously mentioned the owner used this car regularly touring Europe and obviously did not want it to break down. The gearbox has been upgraded to a T5 5 speed cosworth box. It has willwoood calipers on the front. Alloy radiator fitted.
Interior - Original walnut trim and rear seats. Front seats are Jaguar but match the fronts well. Good door cards, headlining and carpet. Owner has added a usb socket for charging.
Wheels - Genuine split rim revolutions with good tyres. If let for a period of time the tyres lose air. I think the gasket on the split rims might need replaced.
Very rare old car which is the genuine article. Its been modified to the last owners taste but wouldnt take a huge amount to put it back to original. Please feel free to come and see the car. Delivery can be arranged if required. Please ask for a quote.
