This Leyland Cruiser 16. 17 tractor unit was originally an engineering test vehicle at the factory R+D centre. The tacho shows a very low mileage of only 6000 km.
The truck then passed to a local college and was used as a static training resource for automotive engineering students. The vehicle now resides with a local museum and is a prime candidate for restoration.
The Leyland Cruiser is 95% complete. It has the Leyland 420 engine with ZF S6-36 gearbox. Some of the cab trim has been removed but is with the vehicle. The cab requires minor welding repairs on the lower edges but crucially the doors are in very good condition, having been treated internally with Tectyl when new.
The engine is a runner but unfortunately has a big end or piston knock, so will require investigation and repair.
Should make an excellent project for a straight forward restoration.
