Our beast it going up for sale. I have owned this truck for the past four years and am now very reluctantly placing it up for sale thanks to ULEZ and living in London. We have used this truck as a family and it has been an amazing vehicle. I am selling it as a project as there are some issues that need addressing (highlighted below) but for the right person this is an easy restoration project for an iconic and beautiful vehicle.
Good points:
Body in very good condition with the odd minor surface mark but no major dents or scratches
20 of the 24 stamps in the service book are from Toyota
Solid chassis
Solid engine bay
Solid engine (Starts first time every time)
Solid 5 speed manual gearbox
4. 2TD
Front, rear and centre diff locks
Very economical at 26-29 MPG (around town)
92 UK model not import so cheaper insurance
LED side lights
Central locking
X4 BFG Goodrich tyres
Original interior in near excellent condition (for age)
Original windows
Electric wing mirrors
CD Player
Decent service and MOT history
Working sunroof with both tilt and fully retractable functions
New Exhaust (complete)
Completely overhauled in 2018 by previous owner
Qualifies for classic 4x4 insurance
Low tax band approx £240 per year
Never been used for off roading
Very clean/ unmarked headlining
Points that need attention:
Rust on the inner front and back wheel arches
Front diff bearing is making a whining sound.
Leaking seal on both rear brakes
Front and back windows intermittently work but very slow when they do
Water pump and timing belt due for a replacement
Basic oil and filter service needed
Windscreen washer bottle/ hose needs replacing as they don’t hold water
Spare wheel needs replacing
Cracked front indicator lens (can be seen in pictures)
The price reflects the model, age and condition of the vehicle. I have tried to list as many of the issues that I know of and am happy to try and answer any questions prior to viewings.

The truck is currently SORN and being stored at a friends garage located at GL55 6LA so viewings will have to be arranged to suit my friends schedule.
The service book, green slip and all previous MOT’s are with the vehicle. However, the remaining parts of the V5c are with me in London so upon receipt of full payment, I will complete the necessary change of ownership process via the DVLA website which offers an instant transfer of ownership and peace of mind for the new owner.
Please note that I will not entertain any silly offers, I am not in a rush to sell. I would love to see this truck go on and become a part of someone’s adventures. The longest trip we completed (husband, wife, child and dog) was to Scotland and back and I can honestly say it was one of the best drives we have ever done! Short, medium and long trips she never misses a beat and if you know about the history of the 80 series you will know the legendary status this vehicle has.
She’s a big, beautiful girl who always gets the thumbs up and nods when driving around town or on the motorway.
