Description
At the launch of the VX series cars the Ventora model was dropped from the then Vauxhall line up, primarily due to its aging 6 cylinder engine which was deemed to be unsuitable for the economy and performance requirements of the time. Instead, a high-end version, the " vx " using a 4 cylinder 2300 engine was launched as Vauxhall's flagship model.
Exterior embellishments included a deep front air dam, twin headlamps, additional bright work, a unique radiator grill and 14" wheels. The interior at the time was considered plush, practical and user friendly.
The "how many left", website records the car offered for sale as one of merely 4 remaining on the UK roads. So a rare car indeed.
This VX is finished in very good metallic light blue paintwork. The body panels appear original. They are all straight and true. The chrome-work is pretty good with the exception of 3 areas namely the rear upper bumper side portions which have experienced some flaking of the chrome as has the front upper bumper section on the passenger side. Each area is approx 4-5" in length and 1" or so in width. The sills are good and solid. The wheels are excellent are as the tyres.
The chassis and undercarriage is clean and solid with no traces of rust/ rot.
The engine and engine bay is clean/ tidy and uncluttered with no signs of past meddling. The engine and auto - gear box are both responsive and powerful with no complaining noises, rattles or squeaks etc.
Internally the VX is dry and fitted with grey velour upholstery, black carpeting, black vinyl door cards and dashboard with wood effect inlays. It has a white headlining which is fully intact. The interior is both complete and very clean. It provides more than ample space for driver and passengers. There are seat belts front and rear.
The boot/ luggage compartment is large, clean and uncluttered. The boot floor like the chassis/ undercarriage is clean and clear of rot/ rust, merely one or 2 areas of small surface staining.
While this vehicle is now mot exempt, the car has an mot to 11 April 2023 with no advisories.
The VX to my eyes with its stance and shape has the look of a 70s American muscle car. As stated, it is one of only 4 remaining on the UK roads as recorded by "how many left" and with more than a year having passed since the last research, it may have become an even rarer car. Accordingly, this much admired VX is surely an excellent classic car investment and rare opportunity. A vehicle to be enjoyed whether as a daily runner or in the classic car circuit at low entry purchase level cost aligned to low running and insurance expense.
