The Superformance cars are the only Cobra replicas built under licence from Carroll Shelby. The MkII or ‘Slab Side’ car as it is known reflects the style of the early Shelby Cobra 289, with its more elegant styling and classic ‘bumperettes’.
The car is finished in the handsome and period correct, Princess Blue, combined with classic black leather upholstery. Wheels are the correct "knock-off" wire option with braking being via Wilwood disc brakes front and rear.
TIG-welded frame chassis to the original design, clothed in hand-laminated reinforced fibreglass bodywork, and rides on transverse leaf spring suspension – as per the original cars, with Gaz adjustable shock absorbers.
All the interior gauges are as per the original too and feature Smiths instruments including an anti-clockwise 180mph speedometer. This particular car was ordered with discreet Offenhauser fuel injection rather than the Holley carburettor, providing greater efficiency and easy starting!
In its current configuration the car features a straight-through stainless exhaust system with race catalytic converters, but also comes with a fully silenced rear system that which may be bolted on if preferred. The sound is glorious!
The car is also supplied with a tonneau cover and soft top.
