Unfortunately the time has come to with part ways with this daddy of hot hatches. The reason for sale is that ive got another classic car restoration on the go which is taking up much more of my time and money, plus I have lost storage. The car only needs one more MOT then it’ll be tax and MOT exempt! The car is completely standard still and the only modifications are to the wheels and suspension which is brand new and can easily be raised higher or lowered as you wish. I do have the original wheels and suspension should you wish to convert it back to standard
I've owned the car for 8 years now, when I bought it, it had been unused for many years and the previous owner did a bit of work to get moving again e. g the tyres, battery and brakes. The car has stacks of service history and old MOTs including a bill for a brand new engine from VW fitted in the mid 90. In my ownership it’s had a lot of major work done including - Stainless exhaust, Gearbox rebuild and Gear linkage, New brake calipers and braided brake lines, New fuel pump and accumulator with new brackets and all new braided fuel lines, Injectors, Alternator, Radiator, coilover suspension, various hoses and other bits and pieces. Its always serviced each year regardless of the miles.
Interior is standard and shows minimal signs of wear, with only two smalls holes in the drivers seat.
In terms of the body, its now in very good condtion having had alot of preventative work done, majority of it in my ownership. There is a big bill in the paperwork which shows it had new front wings, bonnet and sunroof put in along with a full respray of the car. this was done back in the 90s. Then during my ownership ive invested in further preserving the car by the raplacing the front panel, rear panel, both inner rear arches, lower windscreen panel. bottom of the both doors, both sills and most importantly work done to the underneath of the car, which now shows no signs of rust. The only area that will need to be treated on the car now is the roof as there are small areas of rust in the rain channels, this is only visable on close inspection (see pictures).
In terms of electrics the car benefits from an upgraded headlight loom which gives it a more modern/ brighter look when driving down the road at night. The period correct Pioneer cassette unit has also been refurbished and now works as it should, there is an original centre speaker installed which almost looks hidden and is a rare addition to the golf. The instrument cluster also got refurbished just over a year ago and works a treat. Everything else works as it should besides the VDO gauges in the centre console which can be a bit temperamental.
If i get full asking price I will include the original wheels and suspension which is rare now. Happy to put the original wheels on a lower the price slightly. Also included in the price is a tailor made stormforce cover. Other spare parts include tail lights, another set of clocks and other bits and pieces all in a big box. I really am hoping a enthusiast takes this car off me and takes good care of it because it has been a joy.
Happy to answer any more questions you may have. I would be open to a part exchange for a more modern car that is fun but practical and can be used in all weathers.
