This lovely pre-facelift coupe looks stunning in its pristine metallic burgundy paintwork, with almost unmarked cream leather interior, and is in superb condition throughout, completely belying its 31 years of age. It was supplied new by B&K Thomas Mercedes-Benz of Nottingham in November 1991 to a local lady who kept it for 20 years until 2011, covering around 79, 000 miles during her ownership. It then went to a gentleman in Alfreton near Derby who kept it for a further four years, only increasing the mileage by 5, 000 to 84, 000. In September 2015 it was purchased from a well known Classic Mercedes dealer by a retired gentleman from Malvern who has owned it for seven years until now.

Whilst with its first owner it was initially serviced by the supplying dealer, with six of their stamps in the book, then by a trusted local garage with 12 of their stamps present. The second owner had it serviced twice by a local garage near Nottingham. Prior to handover to the latest owner it was serviced by the MB specialist he bought it from, then during his ownership three times by garages in Worcestershire, making a grand total of 24 stamps. For the first 54, 000 miles the servicing was carried out at regular 6, 000 mile intervals as specified by the manufacturer, but after this the mileage tally between servicing was much lower as the car’s annual mileage became much less. Before handing over to its next owner we will service it again, giving 6, 000 miles before any scheduled maintenance is due.

As well as the fully stamped service book we have a large number of the old invoices and almost every MOT certificate.

The W124 coupes are justly renowned as extremely satisfying driving machines over any distance, and this one is no exception. As a result of the fastidious maintenance regime applied by all three owners it drives superbly and gives a reminder of how these cars were when new. Understandably the supply of well kept examples is now running very short.

This is one of the pre-facelift cars with the more prominent grille, very rarely to be found in top condition these days. If other Mercedes models are anything to go by it will become ever more sought-after as the years go by, due to its original specification. The purchaser of this beautiful example will have a car of lasting quality and increasing rarity, which will be a delight to own and drive for many years to come.

We have carried out a comprehensive mechanical check of the car in our own workshop. Any faults found have been remedied, and any required maintenance has been carried out (see above). Invoices for this work will be supplied with the car, along with our own warranty, details of which can be supplied on request.
