Description

1966 Dodge Polara 383 ci big block V8 with 4 barrel Edelbrock carburettor.

4-door saloon with original paint and mostly original interior. It's a true survivor car from California and I've done my best to not mess around with the originality of the car. I think it's perfect as it is.

I've owned the car since January 2020 and I'm the first UK owner. I registered it and have carried out a fair amount of work to get it UK friendly including a new radiator that has been painted to look exactly like the old one.

The car drives fantastically. Starts up just fine hot and cold (with a little encouragement). It has an automatic choke and power steering. The Dodge is very happy pootling about town and sitting in traffic. Visibility is excellent and I've never had any trouble placing it on the road despite the size and left-hand drive.

I have loads of history and parts with the car. Dating back to at least the late 80's. 2 sets of keys. 2 sets of spare wheel trims. brake shoes, water pump etc.

The gearbox is excellent, and the engine is very strong/ being pre-73 (335hp) it has a lot of power and will happily take care of much more modern machinery at the lights and keep up at motorway speeds.

It has drums all around, so you do need to be careful with the brakes but they're quite happy stopping the car.

All the electrics work including the gauges, heater, and radio. The only item I can think of that doesn't work is the horn.

The drivers side window was unfortunately damaged during transit to the UK and was replaced with a polycarbonate replica. This was done by a company that converts glass to poly for race cars and is of high quality. It’s been this way for over 2 years and has no effect on winding or weatherproofing.

It has American Racing chrome wheels fitted at the moment and a full-size spare of its original wheels. I have the original Dodge hubcaps so could be put back to standard easily. It has matching BF Goodrich tyres which look great but they are old and past their best.

Under the covers the seats are contrasting turquoise to match the paint. The fronts are a little worn but the rears look pretty good. I leave the covers on so they match.

The paint is original, it has faded and has cracked in a few places, there are stone chips on the bonnet and a number of marks all over the body. It's all the better for them. I think it adds to the character hugely. You can't fake patina like this.

It has a twin exhaust and the sound is to die for. The ride is also excellent.

It gets driven pretty often which keeps the car in fine fettle, it doesn't just sit in the garage gathering dust. It's used and enjoyed. I've only put super unleaded in since I bought it and it has never been near e10.

Any questions please ask. I have loads more photos, videos etc. Viewing is essential. Finding a pre-73 V8 is getting more and more difficult and this one has a fascinating history and is a perfect companion.
